Sun / UV Exposure

Rosacea is a photosensitivity disorder.

The strong, year-long UVA/UVB radiation in Australia worsens rosacea symptoms significantly. For this reason, rosacea appears to be worse here than in regions with better ozone layer protection (or for that matter, regions with higher percentages of dark skinned individuals. Individuals with dark skin are unlikely to develop rosacea, courtesy of the natural sunscreen afforded by higher melanin levels).

Effective rosacea sunscreens are a must, and one of the cornerstones of effective rosacea treatment and prevention.
